The artist: Eric Tourneret

A professional and passionate photographer since 1989, Éric Tourneret is today known worldwide as the bee photographer. Having spent his entire childhood near Annecy, between lake and mountains, Éric was introduced early on to the beauty of the world around him. It was at the age of 17 that he discovered the world of photography through fashion and advertising. In 2004, he explored new horizons and became interested in beekeeping; his photographs were noticed and exhibited in 2006 at the Orangerie du Sénat. A first book was also published: "The People of the Bees".

The artist: Eric Tourneret

Eager for novelty and discovery, the photographer explores new countries such as Nepal, India, Canada... An 8-year journey allowed him to publish "Les routes du miel" in 2015 and "Le génie des abeilles" in 2017.

Committed, Éric continues his journeys and plunges into the heart of beehives around the world. The richness of his discoveries allows him to share his passion with a wide audience through his book: "Cueilleurs de miel".

The honey routes

Touched by the threat of pesticides slowly leading to the disappearance of bees, Éric Tourneret decided to undertake in-depth work to show the whole world the beauty and necessity of bees in our world. He invites us here to discover the most industrial but also the most atypical forms of beekeeping... From honey harvests on the cliffs of the Irula people in India to the discovery of honey ants in Australia, and the admiration of giant bees in Indonesia, embark with him on "The Honey Roads."

This exhibition retraces 8 years of travel through 23 different countries, as well as 8 years of unusual discoveries captured in images.

The genius of bees

In 2015, Éric Tourneret aimed to expand his work on bees. He drew inspiration from Jürgen Tautz, a leading specialist in bee biology, to understand the functioning and intelligence of these small creatures. Thus, we discover the colony's ability to fight diseases and survive, the bees' ability to communicate with each other, and their incredible cognitive capacity. From the colony to the individual bee, this exhibition offers you the opportunity to discover absolutely everything about the world of pollinators.
